DEL NORTE—Madeline Gonzales, 99, died Sunday, July 1, 2012.
She was born Aug. 7 in Fort Garland to Pedro and Isabel (Lucero) Vigil.
Madeline enjoyed sewing, crocheting, fishing with her family and cooking. She was especially fond of animals. Madeline was active in the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. She was a member of the Holy Family Society and SBI.
Her parents, two siblings and her husband along with six children preceded her in death.
Survivors include Augustine (Cathy) Gonzales and Cecilia Archuleta of Del Norte, Teleforo (Alice) Vigil of Washington, Ben (Elinore) Vigil of Denver, Jake (Alice) Vigil of Thorton, Colo., Sobeda Torres of Las Vegas, Nev., Phyllis Gurule of Utah, Virginia (Sam) of Indiana, Dorothy (John) Kinch of Meade, Colo., and Madeline’s 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.
The Rosary was recited Wednesday, July 4, at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. A funeral mass was Thursday, July 5, at the same church followed by burial in the Del Norte Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Strohmayer’s Funeral Home, 205 S. Broadway.
