WEST BURLINGTON, S.D.—Freddie D. Eastland, 77, of Sioux Falls, S.D., passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Freddie Darwin Eastland was born on February 17, 1935 in Emhouse, Texas, the son of Lee Mahone and Winnie (Tinkle) Eastland.
He had married Sylvia Jean Addison and later divorced. In 1989, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann (Holst) Jones. Freddie worked as a civil engineer for ABB Lums retiring in 1999 after 20 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Freddie will be deeply missed by his wife, Ruth Ann of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sons, Doug Eastland of Waco, Texas, Brian (Kori) Eastland of Shreveport, La.; step-sons, Kirk Jones of Wapello, S.D. and Mark (Monica) Jones of Creede; step-daughters, Sheila (Monte) Eversmeyer and Shelly (Darren) Holsteen all of Wapello, S.D.; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Betty) Eastland of Corsicana, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Wanda Barrett, Jeanine Pope and Nancy Robinson.
No visitation or service will be held. Cremation rites were facilitated by the Family Care Services Life Transition and Cremation Center in Muscatine, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Great River Hospice House in Freddie’s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Geo. M.
